BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) -- Mark Borda threw three first-half
touchdown passes and Marques Thompson scored three times as Lehigh
beat Albany 44-14 on Saturday.
Borda, who finished 13-for-20 for 248 yards, threw a 35-yard
touchdown pass to Thompson on the first possession for Lehigh
(3-1). After a field goal by Justin Musiek extended the Mountain
Hawks' lead to 10, Borda hooked up with Gerran Walker for a 73-yard
touchdown to put Lehigh up 17-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Albany (1-4) responded with a 1-yard touchdown run by Eddi
Unverzagt, but Borda threw another touchdown pass to Thompson --
this time from 10 yards out -- to give Lehigh a 23-7 lead.
Thompson added a 33-yard touchdown run at the start of the third
quarter and finished with 89 yards on 19 carries and two catches
for 45 yards and two touchdowns.
Receiver Mike Wall scored on a 21-yard reverse at the end of the
first half to get Albany on the board, but Lehigh's defense held
the Great Danes to just 131 yards in the second half. The Mountain
Hawks' defense scored a touchdown on a 74-yard fumble return by Tom
Alfsen early in the fourth.
Albany was led by quarterback Nicholas Bazan, who rushed for 84
yards on 21 carries and finished 9-for-15 for 86 yards and one
Kyle Keating scored on a 1-yard touchdown run early in the
fourth for Lehigh.
Lehigh rolled up a season-high 393 yards of total offense.
