HAMMOND, La. (AP) -- Martin Hankins threw for 368 yards and two
touchdowns to lead Southeastern Louisiana past Mississippi Valley
State 33-17 Saturday night.
Hankins, who was 30-of-49 for the game, hit 17 of 20 passes in
the second half as he led Southeastern (3-2) back from a 10-point
Felton Huggins caught eight passes -- all in the second half --
for 131 yards and Jeffrey Howard had seven catches 62 yards and a
touchdown as Southeastern snapped a two-game losing streak and
piled up 439 yards in total offense.
Marcus April led the Delta Devils (0-5) with 102 yards while
Aries Nelson completed 16-of-28 passes for 141 yards.
In the second half, Hankins passed for 234 yards and had
touchdown passes of 35 yards to Hutch Gonzales and 24 yards to
Howard as the Lions erased a 17-7 deficit. Ray Perkins had 154
all-purpose yards a pair of touchdowns for the Lions, including a
94-yard kickoff return that gave Southeastern a 7-3 lead with 10:44
remaining in the first half. His second score came on a 5-yard run.
The Delta Devils led 10-7 in the first quarter when John Pierre
Marshall blocked a Jim Hall punt at the Southeastern 38 and
Jermayel Brown recovered it in the end zone.
Curtis Kemp added a 1-yard touchdown in the second quarter for
MVSU, which gained 389 yards total offense, including 218 on the
