MURRAY, Ky. (AP) -- Chad Cook rushed for 187 yards and two
touchdowns and Onsha Whitaker intercepted a pass in the final
minute to lead Murray State to a 24-21 win over Samford on
Adam Fisher completed 14 of 22 passes with a TD pass for the
Racers (3-3, 2-1 Ohio Valley Conference), who were outgained
Ray Nelson completed 28 of 60 passes for 249 yards with two
interceptions for Samford (1-5, 0-3).
The Racers built a 17-0 halftime lead, but Samford cut the
deficit to 17-14 in the third quarter on two touchdown runs by
Cook had a 32-yard touchdown run with 3:18 left in the quarter
to push the lead back to 10.
Nelson threw a 34-yard TD pass to Efrem Hill with 6:42 left in
Samford got the ball back with 4:02 left and drove to the Murray
State 29. Whitaker intercepted a Nelson pass with 26 seconds left
to preserve the win.
