Marshall 16, Ohio 13

ATHENS, Ohio (AP) -- Marshall's Ian O'Connor made three field goals, out-kicking Brooks Rossman, whose miss on a 32-yarder with 25 seconds left allowed the Thundering Herd to hold onto a 16-13 win over Ohio on Saturday.

Rob Stover recovered quarterback Stan Hill's fumble with 2:02 left, giving Ohio the ball on the Marshall 17. Three plays later Rossman missed his first attempt of the day.

O'Connor was 3-for-3 including a 52-yarder in the first quarter.

Jonathan Goddard intercepted Ohio's Ryan Hawk and returned it 23 yards to make it 10-3 late in the first half.

Marshall (2-3, 2-0 Mid-American Conference) extended its lead to 13-6 on O'Connor's 20-yard field goal, capping a 64-yard drive in the third quarter. He hit a 42-yarder later in the period.

Stover intercepted Hill in the fourth quarter to set up the Bobcats' only touchdown. Austen Everson connected with Rudy Sylvan on 17-yard pass with 9:02 left.

Marshall had eight sacks, led by Goddard, who had 2½. He also blocked a punt.

Ohio (3-3, 1-2) was coming off a win against Kentucky, its first defeat of a major-conference team since 2000.
