LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP) -- Pat McDermott scored on a 1-yard plunge in
the second overtime period to give Penn a 32-25 victory over
Bucknell on Saturday.
McDermott completed 32 of 55 passes for 384 yards and one
touchdown and rushed for two others for Penn (3-1), made his
game-wining score after a 42-yard field goal by Evan Nolan tied the
score. Ryan Korn's career-high 47-yard field goal had given
Bucknell (3-4) a 25-22 lead.
Gabe Marabella scored on a 12-yard pass from McDermott with 5:15
remaining to tie the score 22-22 and send the game into overtime.
Mike Cangelosi connected with Nisan Trotter on a 66-yard pass
and then scored himself on an 8-yard run to give Bucknell a 14-0
first-quarter lead. Bryan Arguello got Penn on the board with a
27-yard field goal.
McDermott scored on a 1-yard run in the second quarter and Kyle
Ambrogi scored on a 7-yard run in the third to give Penn its first
lead, 15-14. But Kenny Davis scored on a 2-yard run to cap a
65-yard drive and give Bucknell a 22-15 lead with 3:29 remaining in
With 7:22 remaining, Bucknell quarterback Daris Wilson raced 20
yards into the end zone with 7:22 remaining, but a holding penalty
nullified the score. Wilson completed 9 of 12 passes with one
interception for 116 yards but was held to just 27 yards rushing on
Penn held a 489-319 advantage in total offense in the game,
which drew a record crowd of 10,602.
