ELON, N.C. (AP) -- Kevious Johnson rushed for 183 yards and two
touchdowns to lift Wofford to a 27-13 win against Elon on Saturday.
Johnson, the 2003 Southern Conference Freshman of the Year,
rushed 36 times, averaging 5.1 yards a carry. He scored on runs of
five and two yards.
Gabriel Jackson rushed for 94 yards on 10 carries and two
touchdowns in the second half.
Wofford (4-1, 2-1 Southern Conference) took a 7-0 lead on its
opening possession when it drove 78 yards in nine plays, capped by
a 5-yard scoring run from Johnson.
The Terriers failed to score again in the first half, even after
moving the ball inside the Elon 20 four times.
Elon first got on the board with six points on a 10-yard run by
John Taylor in the third quarter.
The Phoenix (1-4,0-2) scored its final points on a 65-yard run
by Ronnie Dargan with 2:39 left in the game.
Wofford out-gained Elon on the ground 406-132.
Elon's Kye Hamilton completed 17 of 30 passes, threw no
touchdowns and four interceptions.
