NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) -- Junior quarterback Mark Borda scored on
a 5-yard run with 2 minutes, 7 seconds left to lead Lehigh to a
30-24 non-league win over Yale on Saturday.
Yale (3-2) had two chances to come back, the first ending with a
Chandler Henley fumble at the Lehigh 43 yard line with 1:33 left.
Yale got the ball back with 59 seconds left at its own 48, drove
to the Lehigh 31, but Alvin Cowan's pass into the end zone was
incomplete as time expired.
Borda was 24 of 33 for 291 yards and rushed 11 times for 45
yards for Lehigh (5-1), ranked 18th in the Sports Network I-AA
Junior tailback Eric Rath rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns
on 20 carries to help Lehigh overcome a 21-10 halftime deficit.
Rath gained 61 yards in the second half, as Lehigh possessed the
ball for 21:04 of the second half.
Lee Thomas, who has four catches entering the game, caught six
passes for 124 yards.
Cowan completed 23 of 34 passes for 287 yards and one touchdown.
The touchdown was the 35th of Cowan's career, tying him with Joe
Walland (1997-99) as Yale's career leader.
