WASHINGTON (AP) -- Nathan Keever kicked a field goal for Morgan State with five seconds remaining in the game to force extra time, but Howard University quarterback Marcos Moreno ran six yards for a touchdown to secure a win for the Bison Saturday.

Although Morgan State (2-4, 1-2 MEAC) controlled the ball for almost twice as much time as Howard (3-2, 0-1), running backs like Roland Colbert who rushed five times for 40 yards in the first quarter gave the Bison an early lead.

Jason Jackson rushed 33 times for 168 yards for Morgan State and broke the season-high individual record for rushes in a game and tied quarterback Bradshaw Littlejohn and running back Craig Nelson for the record for most touchdown rushes with three.

The crucial play of the game came at the end of the fourth quarter when an illegal substitution by the Bears gave Howard and automatic first down on the nine yard-line. Fullback Kevin Tyson capitalized on this situation and scored his first touchdown on a pass from Moreno with 1:46 left in the game to put the Bison ahead 35-32 for the first time since the middle of the second quarter.

Howard's win in the 68th meeting with Morgan State marks the first conference win of the season for the Bison.
