CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- John Taylor rushed for 190 yards and four touchdowns, three of them in the fourth quarter, to rally Elon to a 35-26 victory over Chattanooga on Saturday.

Elon (2-4, 1-2 Southern Conference) trailed 20-7 going into the fourth period but reeled off four straight touchdowns to slip past the Moccasins (0-6, 0-3).

The Phoenix pulled within six points on Michael Mayers' 9-yard touchdown pass to Kye Hamilton early in the fourth. That made it 20-14, Chattanooga.

Then Taylor, the conference's leading rusher, took over. After Chattanooga attempted to convert a fourth-and-four at the Elon 37, only to be sacked for an 18-yard loss, the Phoenix drove 45 yards in five plays to score on Taylor's 9-yard run for a 21-20 lead.

On Chattanooga's next possession Chad Nkang picked off a Cedric Stevens pass and returned it to the Mocs' 6, from where Taylor scored on the next play for a 28-20 lead. Nkang also had 12 tackles and forced a fumble for the Phoenix.

Then Elon put the game away with a 78-yard drive in eight plays, scoring on Taylor's 5-yard run, for a 35-20 lead with 1:24 left.

Chattanooga scored the game's final points with seven seconds left on a 9-yard pass from Stevens to Alonzo Nix.

Stevens completed 23 of 31 passes for 266 yards for the Mocs.
