SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) -- Jeff Zolman's touchdown on a
quarterback sneak with 2:21 left in the game gave Wofford a 15-12
win over Western Carolina on Saturday.
The winning drive started with a blocked punt by Jason Leventis
and Erik Hutchinson that the Terriers (5-1, 3-1 Southern
Conference) recovered on the Catamount 29.
Western Carolina (2-5, 0-3) forced Wofford into a fourth-and-5,
but Zolman found tight-end Adam Regenthal with a 23-yard pass down
to the 1. The winning score and two-point conversion came on the
Western Carolina then drove the ball down to the Wofford 34, but
two sacks by Lee Basinger, including an 18-yard loss on a
fourth-and-14, sealed the game for the Terriers.
The Catamounts had a blocked punt of their own. Lamar Beam
recovered the ball in the end zone to give Western Carolina a 6-0
lead in the first quarter.
Kevious Johnson led the Terriers on the ground with 68 yards on
17 carries. Zolman ran for 50 yards on 13 carries and was 3-for-6
for 45 yards.
Justin Clark was 14-of-23 for 120 yards and Nicholas Wishart had
75 yards on 21 carries for Western Carolina.
Tim Mayse made 36 and 41-yard field goals for the Catamounts,
but missed a 42-yarder midway through the fourth quarter.
