Columbia 9, Dartmouth 6

NEW YORK (AP) -- Nick Rudd's third field goal of the game broke a
tie in the fourth quarter, and Columbia snapped its six-game losing
streak with a 9-6 win over Dartmouth on Saturday.

Tad Crawford intercepted a pass by Dartmouth's Charlie Rittgers
to set up Rudd's 19-yarder with 13:15 remaining.

Dartmouth (0-6, 0-3 Ivy League) was unable to threaten after
Rudd's kick, getting no closer than the Lions 41 in the game's
final minute.

It was the first win for Columbia (1-5, 1-2) since Nov. 11,
2003, when the Lions beat Cornell 34-21. They lost their final game
against Brown before opening this season 0-5.

Columbia led 6-0 at halftime, before Clayton Smith intercepted a
pass by Lions quarterback Jeff Otis and returned it to the Lions
27. Five plays later, Rittgers scored from a yard out to tie the
score. Erik Hinterbichler missed the extra-point try.

Rudd kicked field goals from 39 and 31 yards in the first half,
and missed from 36 and 40 yards. Dartmouth's Tyler Lavin missed
tries from 46, 48 and 41 yards out.

Otis was 24-of-39 for 269 yards while Rittgers was 19-for-39 for
147 yards and two interceptions.
