SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Todd Mortensen threw for three touchdowns and
Evan Harney ran for three more to lead San Diego to a 56-0 victory
over Davidson on Saturday night.
The Toreros wasted little time establishing control as they
scored on six of their first seven possessions to take a 42-0
halftime lead. It was San Diego's third win in four games.
Harney scored the first three touchdowns for San Diego (4-4, 2-1
Pioneer North) with a 5-yard TD sandwiched around a pair of 1-yard
scoring runs, all in the first quarter. Harney, who rushed for 86
yards on 18 carries, became the Toreros' all-time leader in career
touchdowns with 33.
Mortensen, who completed 14 of 20 passes for 170 yards,
connected on touchdown passes of 19 and 7 yards to Michael
Gasperson and a 15-yarder to Nick Garton. Mortensen and Harney each
were removed before halftime and did not play again.
Davidson (2-5, 1-2 Pioneer South) managed only 188 total yards
as the Wildcats were shut out for the first time in 57 games since
a 44-0 loss at Morehead State in the 1999 season opener.
Beaux Jones and Damion White combined to complete just 10 of 32
passes for 103 yards and three interceptions.
