PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Obozua Ehikioya rushed for 246 yards and
four touchdowns to lead Marist to a 41-35 victory over La Salle on
Ehikioya scored on a 32-yard run with 1:09 to go to give Marist
(3-0, 3-4 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) a 41-28 lead.
La Salle (3-5, 2-1) got a 4-yard touchdown catch from John Zabel
-- his second in the last four minutes of the game -- with 4 seconds
left for the final margin.
Marist controlled the clock with a strong rushing attack that
finished with 297 yards. The Red Foxes held a huge advantage in
time of possession, holding the ball for 40:24 compared to just
under 20 minutes for the Explorers.
Marist also got touchdowns from Brad Rowe on a 13-yard run and
Anthony Madigan on a 24-yard touchdown pass from James Luft, who
threw for 135 yards on the day.
La Salle, using a quarterback rotation of Vernard Abrams and
Michael Jump, gained 291 yards in the air.
Abrams, leading the Explorers mostly in the red zone, scored on
touchdown runs of 1 and 4 yards and threw touchdown passes of 3 and
4 yards to Zabel. Abrams finished 4-of-7 for 105 yards and Jump
finished 14-of-19 for 186 yards.
