Marshall 20, Central Florida 3

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Stan Hill threw a touchdown pass and Chris Royal returned an interception for a score to lead Marshall to a 20-3 victory over Central Florida on Saturday.

Marshall (5-3, 5-0 Mid-American Conference) outgained UCF 328-104 in a struggle between the conference's two worst offenses.

UCF (0-8, 0-5) saw the nation's longest losing streak extended to 11 games.

Marshall's Josh Davis had seven catches to move within one of the conference career reception record of 272 set last year by former teammate Darius Watts.

Hill, Marshall's career leader in completion percentage, had trouble in a swirling wind, overthrowing a wide open Davis near the goal line in the first quarter.

Hill started out 2-of-10, was replaced briefly by Graham Gochneaur, then returned to throw a 5-yard TD pass to Brad Bates for a 14-0 halftime lead.

Hill, who finished 15-of-31 for 113 yards, continued to struggle in the second half with two straight incompletions inside the UCF 20, leading to Ian O'Connor's 28-yard field goal for a 17-0 lead.

O'Connor added a 49-yarder in the fourth quarter and is 13-of-15 on field goals this season.

After Marshall turned the ball over on downs inside the UCF 5 in the second quarter, Royal made his national-best sixth interception, picking off Steven Moffett at the 38 and zig-zagging for a touchdown.

UCF had the ball just three times in Marshall territory.<
