Middle Tenn. St. 21, Utah State 0

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) -- Clint Marks threw for 317 yards,
including two long touchdowns to Kerry Wright, to lead Middle
Tennessee State past Utah State 21-0 on Saturday.

Wright caught nine passes for 167 yards for the Blue Raiders
(4-4, 3-2 Sun Belt Conference), including touchdown passes of 58
and 42 yards. The MTSU defense made it stand up by holding the
Aggies to 156 total yards for the Blue Raiders' first shutout in
four years.

Utah State (2-6, 1-3) quarterbacks were sacked seven times for
46 yards in losses, contributing to a net of only 30 yards on the
ground. The Aggies also committed 11 penalties. Their best scoring
opportunity came up short when Colby's Smith's field goal attempt
in the second quarter bounced off the crossbar.

Utah State had not been shut out since 1999 (by Kansas State),
and had not failed to score in conference play since 1986.

MTSU's other score came on a short run by Eugene Gross.
