SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) -- Gabriel Jackson ran for 170 yards and
two touchdowns as Wofford totaled 476 yards on the ground in a
38-17 win over The Citadel on Saturday.
Jackson had scoring runs of 44 and 29 yards as the Terriers
(6-2, 4-2 Southern Conference) took a 28-17 halftime lead. He
almost scored a third touchdown, reaching the 1-yard line on an
83-yard run in the third quarter, but Wofford fumbled on the next
play, resulting in a touchback for the Bulldogs.
Kevious Johnson added 14 carries for 135 yards and one touchdown
-- a 25-yard run with 3:14 left in the third quarter to give the
Terriers a 35-17 lead.
Jeff Zolman completed 3-of-4 passes for 64 yards, including a
33-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Johnson with 2:11 left in the first
The Citadel (1-6, 0-4) was led by Duran Lawson, who completed
20-of-29 passes for 130 yards. Nehemiah Broughton, who had 15
carries for 67 yards, ran for two touchdowns -- including a 43-yard
run to cap a nine-play, 80-yard drive.
TCU had a lot to overcome, from torrential rains to an ankle injury that slowed Trevone Boykin, but the Horned Frogs dug deep to knock off Baylor.
