Drake 39, Waldorf College 7

11/13/2004 - Drake Bulldogs

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Freshman Scott Phaydavong ran for 154
yards and three touchdowns and Drake held Waldorf to 60 total yards
in winning 39-7 Saturday for its eighth straight victory.

Phaydavong carried 20 times and scored on 26, 2 and 13 yards in
topping 100 yards for the seventh time this season. He did not play
in the fourth quarter as coach Rob Ash rested his starters in
preparation for next Saturday's Pioneer Football League
championship game at Morehead State.

Drake (9-2) would tie the school record for victories if it wins
that game.

Waldorf (2-8) managed only five first downs and did not drive
into Drake territory until late in the third quarter. The Warriors
got their touchdown on Lee Schissel's 61-yard fumble return in the
fourth quarter.

Drake had three sacks and held Waldorf to 3 yards rushing in 29
attempts. The Bulldogs also recorded a safety when Poul Collins and
Ryan Frehse tackled punter T.J. Meyer in the end zone after an
errant snap.

Jason Jones, a senior playing in his final home game for the
Bulldogs, caught five passes for 125 yards, including 33-yarder
from Connor Jostes for the first touchdown.

Jostes finished 14 of 22 for 212 yards and one interception.
