PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Niel Loebig threw for 301 yards and five
touchdowns, including a 2-yard scoring pass to Alex Roberson in
overtime, to lead Duquesne to a come-from-behind 36-33 victory over
Morehead State on Saturday.
Loebig connected with Roberson and Michel Warfield for two
touchdowns apiece and also hit Dan Spriggs for another score for
Duquesne (7-2). Loebig became the fifth quarterback in NCAA I-AA
history to reach 10,000 career passing yards and 100 career
Tyler Cvitkovic completed 14-of-16 passes for 147 yards and a
touchdown for Morehead State (6-5).
Trailing 30-20 after the third quarter, Duquesne sent the game
into overtime on a 24-yard field goal by John Harris and Loebig's
4-yard pass to Roberson that capped a 12-play, 72-yard drive with
Adam Jones kicked a 28-yard field goal for Morehead State in
overtime, but another Loebig-Roberson connection won the game for
Chris Stockleman had a 12-yard touchdown run and James
Spencer-Howell recovered a fumble and raced 57 yards to lead
Morehead State to a 14-0 first-quarter lead. After Warfield's 5-
and 14-yard TD receptions, Jones kicked a field goal to keep
Morehead State ahead 16-14 at the half.
Cvitkovic's 36-yard pass to Dana Calhoun and a 1-yard run by Dan
Spriggs, sandwiched around Loebig's 9-yard scoring pass to Spriggs,
put Morehead State up 30-20 with 19 seconds left in the third
quarter. Morehead State outgained Duquesne 221-132 on the ground.
