PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Mark Hartigan rushed for 179 yards and
four touchdowns to lead Brown to a 33-21 win over Columbia on
Saturday in the final regular season game for both teams.
Steve Morgan booted a pair of field goals for the Bears (6-4,
3-4 Ivy), and Hartigan recorded his 17th score of the season to
become Brown's all-time single season rushing touchdown leader.
The Lions (1-9, 1-6) were led by quarterback Jeff Otis, who
completed 28 of 46 passes for 310 yards.
Columbia took an early 7-3 lead on a 2-yard touchdown run by
Rashad Biggers, but Hartigan reclaimed the lead for Brown with a
1-yard scoring run late in the first quarter to cap an eight-play,
Hartigan, who carried the ball 39 times, scored his second
touchdown of the game late in the third quarter to put Brown ahead
Columbia closed the gap to 20-14 in the final quarter when
Biggers ran from the 1-yard line.
On the ensuing Brown drive, Hartigan scored again from 1 yard
out and then scored again in the game's final moments on a 10-yard
Columbia's final touchdown came on Otis' 3-yard scoring pass to
Nic DeGasperis with 3:21 left in the game.
