EASTON, Pa. (AP) -- Brad Maurer rushed for 124 yards and a
touchdown to lead Lafayette to a 24-10 victory over Lehigh on
Saturday as the Leopards secured a share of the Patriot League
championship and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division
Maurer also completed 11-of-21 passes for 108 yards as Lafayette
(8-3, 5-1 Patriot League) amassed 387 yards of total offense while
limiting Lehigh (9-2, 5-1) to just 200 yards of total offense.
Maurice Bennett had 11 tackles and Justin Stovall had six tackles
and forced two fumbles.
Lafayette scored three times in the third quarter on a 26-yard
run by Maurer, a 25-yard field goal by Rick Ziska -- both capping
66-yard drives -- and Brandon Stanford's 13-yard scoring run.
Joe McCourt, who rushed for 80 yards, scored in the fourth
quarter on a 2-yard run to cap an 80-yard drive that put Lafayette
up 24-7 with 7:54 remaining.
Eric Rath scored on an 8-yard run that capped a 70-yard drive
after the opening kickoff to give the Mountain Hawks an early lead.
Matt McNelis kicked a 27-yard field goal for Lehigh in the final
minutes to end the scoring.
Mark Borda was 14-for-20 for 117 yards for the Mountain Hawks,
who managed only 76 yards in the second half.
The Leopards lead the all-time series in college football's
most-played rivalry 73-62-5.
