HOUSTON (AP) -- Matt Kubik's two touchdown passes sparked a
35-point second quarter for Louisiana Tech, and the Bulldogs
defeated Rice 51-14 on Monday night.
Kubik completed 7 of 11 passes for 174 yards and three
touchdowns before leaving the game in the third quarter.
Ryan Moats ran for 68 yards on 18 carries and a touchdown to
finish the season with 1,855 yards rushing for the Bulldogs (6-6,
5-3 Western Athletic Conference).
Louisiana Tech scored five second quarter touchdowns -- two by
Trailing 6-3 after the first period, Kubik threw touchdown
passes of l9 yards to Eric Newman and 40 yards to Tramissian Davis
to open the second quarter. After a 1-yard scoring run by Moats,
Robert Burrell recovered a Rice fumble for another score after a
fumbled snap on a punt attempt.
A 92-yard interception return for a touchdown by Corey Brazil
gave the Bulldogs a 38-6 lead at the half.
Rice (3-8, 2-6) lost its sixth straight game. It was the Owls'
final game in the WAC. Rice will move to Conference USA next
