LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP) -- Eric Bjonerud kicked a game-tying
fourth-quarter field goal and then nailed the game-winner in
overtime to lift Georgetown to a 19-16 comeback win over Bucknell
on Saturday night.
Bucknell (0-1, 0-1 Patriot League) had the first possession in
overtime but Josh DeStefano fumbled on the first play, opening the
door for the Hoyas.
Bjonerud capped a nine-play, 61-yard drive with a 26-yard field
goal with 5:46 left in the game. Then, after three plays picked up
nine yards on the Hoyas' first possession in overtime, Bjonerud hit
a 33-yarder for the victory.
Georgetown (1-0, 1-0) trailed 16-0 after Ryan Korn kicked his
third field goal of the game with 11:56 to go in the third quarter,
but the Hoyas started a furious comeback with a 42-yard touchdown
pass by Nick Cangelosi to Kenny Mitchell.
Bucknell turned the ball over on the next possession and
Cangelosi immediately threw a 41-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Van
Fleet, cutting the 16-point deficit to 2 in just 1 minute and 30
Cangelosi finished 9-of-20 for 168 yards and two interceptions
for the Hoyas. Blamah Sarnor scored the Bison's lone touchdown on a
1-yard run in the first quarter.
Bjonerud and Korn each missed a pair of field goals.
