MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) -- Morehead State linebacker Andrew Sturzenbecker broke up a 2-point conversion attempt with minutes left as the Eagles beat Newberry College 35-33 Saturday night.

Sturzenbecker stopped quarterback Josh Stepp from crossing the goal line with 3:41 left.

Morehead State Quarterback Brian Yost completed 14 of 23 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns.

After Newberry College (1-1) scored on the opening possession, Morehead State (2-0) ran off 28 straight points in the first quarter. Casey McCoy, Nick Feldman and Dana Calhoun caught touchdown passes while Eli Park had a 27-yard score to put the Eagles ahead 28-7.

Stepp threw for a touchdown and ran for another score in the fourth quarter as Newberry pulled to within 35-33.

Stepp threw for 228 yards rushed for another 112 yards for Newberry.

Morehead State finished with 327 yards in total offense.
