Brown 34, Georgetown 3

WASHINGTON (AP) -- John Hartigan ran for 91 yards and two touchdowns, and Brown beat Georgetown 34-3 Saturday.

Joe DiGiacomo completed 14 of 22 passes for 211 yards and a touchdown for the Bears (1-0).

Quarterback Nick Cangelosi ran for 85 yards for Georgetown (1-2) before being pulled in the third quarter. The Hoyas, who opened a new multi-sport facility in front of a crowd of 3,500, lost their second straight.

Brown scored twice in the opening 5 minutes of the second half to extend a 10-3 halftime advantage.

The Bears needed only six plays to move 65 yards on the opening series of the second half, with a 39-yard pass from DiGiacomo to Jarrett Shreck making the score 17-3.

Georgetown's John Lancaster fumbled the ensuing kickoff, and John May's recovery set up a 1-yard run by Akin Oyalowo five plays later.

Steve Morgan's 27-yard field goal put Brown ahead 4:34 into the game, and Hartigan capped a 12-play, 70-yard drive with a 1-yard dive with 10 seconds left in the first quarter for a 10-0 Brown lead.

Brad Scoffern's 39-yard field goal got Georgetown within 10-3 late in the second quarter.
