WASHINGTON (AP) -- John Hartigan ran for 91 yards and two
touchdowns, and Brown beat Georgetown 34-3 Saturday.
Joe DiGiacomo completed 14 of 22 passes for 211 yards and a
touchdown for the Bears (1-0).
Quarterback Nick Cangelosi ran for 85 yards for Georgetown (1-2)
before being pulled in the third quarter. The Hoyas, who opened a
new multi-sport facility in front of a crowd of 3,500, lost their
Brown scored twice in the opening 5 minutes of the second half
to extend a 10-3 halftime advantage.
The Bears needed only six plays to move 65 yards on the opening
series of the second half, with a 39-yard pass from DiGiacomo to
Jarrett Shreck making the score 17-3.
Georgetown's John Lancaster fumbled the ensuing kickoff, and
John May's recovery set up a 1-yard run by Akin Oyalowo five plays
Steve Morgan's 27-yard field goal put Brown ahead 4:34 into the
game, and Hartigan capped a 12-play, 70-yard drive with a 1-yard
dive with 10 seconds left in the first quarter for a 10-0 Brown
Brad Scoffern's 39-yard field goal got Georgetown within 10-3
late in the second quarter.
