Samford 37, Miles 7

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Justin Ray rushed for 75 yards and
scored a touchdown to help lead Samford to a 37-7 victory over
Miles Thursday night.

The Bulldog's Dante Williams completed 9-of-15 passes for 135
yards and a touchdown. Jefferson Adcock completed 10-of-14 passes
for 141 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions.

Miles' Terrance Standfield completed 4-of-12 passes for 25
yards, while Darrell Lebeaux completed 1-of-3 passes for 18 yards.

The Bulldogs got on the board early in the first quarter with a
38-yard touchdown by Joe Jones with 13:20 left in the quarter.
Ray's five-yard touchdown run with 5:32 left helped Samford secure
the lead. By the end of the first quarter, Samford led Miles 14-0.

Miles fought back with a 14-yard touchdown run by Joseph Moncur
with 5:45 in the second quarter. But a 23-yard field goal by
Samford's Shannon Fleming with 1:01 in the quarter helped Samford
go into halftime ahead 17-7.

The Bulldogs, who would roll up 438 yards of offense, kept Miles
at bay the second half while securing a 37-7 victory.
