Kentucky tops Ole Miss for first SEC opener win in 19 years

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Andre' Woodson threw three touchdown passes -- two to Dicky Lyons Jr. -- and Kentucky beat Mississippi 31-14 on Saturday for its first win in an SEC opener in 19 years.

The Wildcats (2-1) also got a big game from defensive tackle Myron Pryor, who intercepted a pass, recovered a fumble and forced another one.

Mississippi (1-2) scored first after Rafael Little fumbled and the Rebels took over near midfield. Quarterback Brent Schaeffer then connected with Marshay Green in the flat, and the Green eluded several defenders on his way to a 47-yard touchdown.

The Wildcats responded, thanks to Lyons. He caught a 33-yard pass from Woodson to put Kentucky into scoring position, and then the two hooked up a 26-yard slant a few plays later.

Lyons struck again on Kentucky's next possession, leaping in the back of the end zone for another touchdown. Lyons finished with four catches for 83 yards.

Woodson finished with 290 yards and his second-straight three-touchdown game.

After Schaeffer hit a Robert Hough for a 27-yard touchdown to tie the game at 14, Woodson connected on a 22-yard scoring pass to Curtis Pulley.

Pryor stopped the Rebels' first drive of the second half with an interception after Schaeffer had led the Rebels to the 10. The turnover came a few plays after what appeared to be a spectacular diving touchdown catch by Mike Wallace, but Ole Miss was called for an ineligible receiver penalty.

Tony Dixon added a late rushing touchdown for Kentucky. Mississippi's BenJarvus Green-Ellis led all rushers with 85 yards.
