Rhode Island 28, Brown 21

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) -- Joe Casey ran for 140 yards and two
touchdowns on Saturday as Rhode Island beat Brown 28-21 to win the
Governor's Cup that goes to the winner of the annual game between
the Ocean State rivals.

The Rams (2-2) won the game for the first time since 2003, but
the Bears still have a 66-23-2 lead in the series that dates to
1909.

Casey scored on runs of 1 and 34 yards in the first half as
Rhode Island took a 28-7 halftime lead.

His 34-yard burst up the middle with 9:08 to play in the second
quarter gave Rhode Island a 21-0 lead.

Quarterback Derek Cassidy threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to
Shawn Leonard and scored on a 12-yard run with 35 seconds to play
in the first half.

Brown (1-2) scored on Matt Nuzzo's 1-yard sneak in the first
half.

Joe DiGiacomo, who finished 17-for-34 for 244 yards, almost led
the Bears back in the second half, throwing touchdown passes of 11
and 61 yards to Paul Raymond. Raymond finished with four receptions
for 90 yards.

Raquan Pride had two interceptions for the Rams.
