Top 25 Overview
It was over when... It was scheduled. There was no way the reigning national champs -- with or without VY -- would let Sam Houston State make things interesting.
Gameball goes to... Colt McCoy. The redshirt freshman QB did what he was supposed to: make plays and stay healthy. And the 13-for-17 passing, 179 yards and two TDs didn't hurt.
Stat of the game... 14: It's been 14 years since Texas has played a Division I-AA opponent. This was the 12th-game addition to the Longhorns' schedule.

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) -- Chase Wasson threw for 192 yards and three touchdowns and Texas State overcame a 14-point deficit to beat Sam Houston State 28-21 Saturday.

The Bobcats (5-6, 3-3 Southland) held on despite a 90-yard punt return by Derrick Harris with 20 seconds left. Sam Houston State's subsequent onside kick failed, and Texas State ran out the clock.

D.D. Terry scored the game's first two touchdowns for the Bearkats (6-5, 4-2). The first was a seven-yard run and the second a 44-yard pass from Brett Hicks. Terry finished with 141 rushing yards on 26 attempts. He also caught two passes for 87 yards.

Texas State bounced back with a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter to tie the game heading into the break. Wasson connected with Blake Burton for a four-yard score and Morris Crosby for a 16-yard score.

The Bobcats took the lead for good in the third quarter on a pair of big plays from Stan Zwinggi. He scored on a 49-yard run and added another touchdown five minutes later, catching an 80-yard pass from Wasson.

Zwinggi rushed for 120 yards on 22 attempts.
