KENT, Ohio (AP) -- Julian Edelman threw two touchdown passes and
ran for another and Tony Howard had two rushing scores to lead Kent
State to a 37-15 victory over Akron on Saturday.
Edelman, who completed 17-of-21 passes for 305 yards without an
interception, tossed scoring passes of 15 yards to Brian Bell and
55 yards to Najah Pruden. Edelman also ran for a 4-yard touchdown
for the Golden Flashes (3-2, 3-0 Mid-American Conference).
Luke Getsy threw touchdown passes of 39 yards to David Harvey
and 36 yards to Jabari Arthur for Akron (2-3), which tied for the
MAC's East Division title last year but has lost its first two
games this season.
After the Zips forged a 7-2 lead early in the second quarter,
Kent State scored the next 28 points on Edelman's run, Howard
touchdown runs of 1 and 5 yards and Edelman's pass to Bell.
Edelman led the Flashes with 69 yards rushing on 24 attempts.
Howard added 62 yards on 25 carries. Pruden had four catches for
