EAST HARTFORD, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Two big plays and stingy defense helped Connecticut snap its losing streak.

Terry Caulley ran for long touchdown and Larry Taylor scored on a punt return as the Huskies posted a 21-7 victory over Army.

Losers of two straight coming in, the Huskies (3-3) took the lead 5 1/2 minutes into the game when Caulley ripped off a 98-yard TD run to make it 7-0.

Taylor extended the advantage to 14-0 just under six minutes later on a 72-yard punt return.

Army (3-4) cut the lead to 14-7 early in the fourth quarter on a three-yard TD pass from David Pevoto to Justin Larson. Connecticut answered on its ensuing possession, using 6:17 and 12 plays to cover 80 yards and take a 21-7 lead on a one-yard run by quarterback Matt Bonislawski.

Aside from his big run, Caulley was held in check and finished with 135 yards on 13 carries. Bonislawski completed 10-of-21 passes for 139 yards.

Pevoto was 16-of-30 for 155 yards and was intercepted three times for the Black Knights, who managed 252 yards and had four turnovers.
