EAST HARTFORD, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Two big plays and stingy
defense helped Connecticut snap its losing streak.
Terry Caulley ran for long touchdown and Larry Taylor scored on
a punt return as the Huskies posted a 21-7 victory over Army.
Losers of two straight coming in, the Huskies (3-3) took the
lead 5 1/2 minutes into the game when Caulley ripped off a
98-yard TD run to make it 7-0.
Taylor extended the advantage to 14-0 just under six minutes
later on a 72-yard punt return.
Army (3-4) cut the lead to 14-7 early in the fourth quarter on a
three-yard TD pass from David Pevoto to Justin Larson.
Connecticut answered on its ensuing possession, using 6:17 and
12 plays to cover 80 yards and take a 21-7 lead on a one-yard
run by quarterback Matt Bonislawski.
Aside from his big run, Caulley was held in check and finished
with 135 yards on 13 carries. Bonislawski completed 10-of-21
passes for 139 yards.
Pevoto was 16-of-30 for 155 yards and was intercepted three
times for the Black Knights, who managed 252 yards and had four
