La Salle 27, Catholic University 14

10/14/2006 - La Salle Explorers

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Bernie Cevis scored twice, and La Salle's
defense forced four turnovers in a 27-14 victory over Catholic on
Saturday.

Cevis first gave the Explorers (2-4) the lead in the second
half, catching a 44-yard pass into the end zone from quarterback
Joe Procopio.

The Cardinals (3-3) tied the game with 6:32 to play in the third
quarter on a quarterback keeper by Keith Ricca.

But La Salle's Lou Russo caught his fourth touchdown of the
season to give the Explorers the lead for good at 20-14. Kicker
Anthony Perlozzo's extra point was blocked.

Cevis sealed the win for La Salle when he caught Procopio's pass
on third and six, ducked a would-be tackler and ran into the end
zone with 2:14 remaining.

La Salle rushed for 119 yards and 238 yards passing.

Catholic's Ricca threw two interceptions, and the Cardinals had
two drives stunted when they fumbled on consecutive possessions in
Explorer territory.
