CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Tory Cooper ran for a career-high 204 yards and two touchdowns, including the winning 8-yard score in overtime, as The Citadel beat Western Carolina 30-27 in Southern Conference action Saturday.

The Catamounts (2-5, 0-5 SoCon) scored a field goal on the first possession of overtime, but Cooper carried all four plays for The Citadel (2-5, 2-2) to give the Bulldogs the win.

Western Carolina jumped out to a 14-0 lead and were up 17-7 at the half. Quarterback Bennett Swygert was 12-of-21 with 101 yards, including a 9-yard touchdown pass that was the game's first score.

Safety Angelo Brown intercepted Bulldogs quarterback Duran Lawson and returned it 45 yards for a touchdown.

A faked punt kept the Bulldogs alive on their first scoring drive late in the second quarter. Nuru Goodrum carried the ball in from two yards out with just over four minutes left in the half.

Western Carolina added a field goal to end the first half scoring.

In the fourth, Cooper capped a 15-play, 85-yard drive with a 2-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 17.

The Catamounts answered with a 50-yard touchdown run by Darius Fudge on their next possession.

The Citadel put together a seven-play, 67-yard drive that ended in an 11-yard touchdown pass from Lawson to Rontreal Tyler. Lawson completed 16 of 30 passes for 174 yards. He had two interceptions and one touchdown pass.
