PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Joe DiGiacomo passed for 340 yards and two
touchdowns, and Steve Morgan kicked a 25-yard field goal in
overtime to give Brown a 30-27 victory over Penn on Saturday.
It was the second straight overtime loss for Penn (4-3, 2-2 Ivy
League), which had first possession in the extra period but failed
Brown (3-4, 2-2 Ivy League) opened the game by scoring on its
first two possessions for a 10-0 lead.
Morgan kicked a 36-yard field goal on the first drive, and then
DiGiacomo took Brown 93 yards on a drive that was capped by a
9-yard scoring run by Akin Oyalowo.
Robert Irvin passed for 207 yards and a touchdown for the
Quakers, who were held to 12 yards rushing in the first half.
Penn got on the board in the second quarter when Irvin threw a
6-yard TD pass to Billy May. Free safety Scott Williams returned a
fumble 18 yards for another score to give Penn a 13-10 lead with 4
minutes left in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, Irvin connected with Matt Reinert for a
14-yard pass on a key fourth-and-8 play that set up a 10-yard
scoring run by Joe Sandberg.
Brown scored its second touchdown on a 44-yard pass from
DiGiacomo to Paul Raymond to make it a three-point game with 12
seconds remaining in the third quarter.
On the ensuing kickoff, Chris Wynn had the fourth-longest kick
