Elon 20, Chattanooga 17

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- Elon's Terrell Hudgins caught six
passes for 81 yards and threw a touchdown pass on a reverse to lead
the Phoenix to a 20-17 victory over Chattanooga on Saturday.

Mocs kicker Esteban Lopez missed a 31-yard field goal wide left
with 1:43 left that would have tied the game.

Chattanooga (3-6, 2-3 SoCon) took a 7-0 lead on a 4-yard pass
from quarterback Antonio Miller to Michael Johnson. Elon answered
with a 37-yard field goal by Andrew Wilcox.

The Mocs stretched their lead to 14-3 in the second quarter when
tailback Eldra Buckley ran 11 yards for a touchdown. Buckley rushed
28 times for 187 yards, topping the 1,000-yard mark for the second
straight season.

The Phoenix (4-4, 2-3) closed within 14-10 at the half on an
11-yard touchdown run by Reggie Hall.

Elon used a little trickery to take a 20-14 lead midway through
the third quarter, when Hudgins turned a reverse into a 26-yard
scoring toss to a wide-open Johnie Blackwell.

Lopez later hit a 23-yard field goal to make it 20-17.
