Central Arkansas 55, Southern Arkansas 21

CONWAY, Ark. (AP) -- Brent Grimes and Ross Brown both rushed for more than 100 yards, and each scored a pair of touchdowns Saturday night as Central Arkansas topped Southern Arkansas, 55-21.

UCA quarterback Nathan Brown and receiver Aaron Fairooz also teamed up for a pair of scores for the Bears (6-3).

Division II SAU (2-8) had been a rival of UCA in the Gulf South Conference until the Bears moved up to Division I-AA this year.

Ross Brown and Grimes scored their four touchdowns in the first quarter - Brown on runs of 6 yards and 27 yards, Grimes on sprints of 4 yards and 2 yards. Grimes finished with 116 yards on 12 carries, while Brown gained 102 yards on nine carries.

Nathan Brown and Fairooz connected on a 27-yard pass play for a 35-0 lead as the first period ended.

SAU finally got on the board in the second quarter with a passing touchdown, Josh SanFilippo to Justin Peters, from 9 yards out, for a 35-7 score at the half.

The Muleriders' Mario Coleman returned a kickoff 27 yards to make it 35-14.

But the Bears responded with three TDs to put the game out of reach, 55-14, before the third period ended. Fairooz caught another Nathan Brown pass to score from the 12, Tristan Jackson returned an interception 47 yards for a touchdown, and Olen Whitely ran for a TD from 2 yards out.

Midway through the final quarter, SanFilippo threw another TD pass, to Augie Berend from the 6, for the final margin.

Nathan Brown finished 9-of-14 for 143 yards. His counterpart for SAU, SanFilippo, went 8-for-27 for 107 yards, but led the Muleriders' rushing with 98 yards.
