JACKSON, Miss. (AP) -- Jimmy Oliver passed for two touchdowns and Dorian Smith ran for two more scores to lead Jackson State to its first winning season in three years with a 31-7 victory over Prairie View on Saturday.
Jackson State (6-4, 5-3 Southwestern Athletic Conference) also broke a three-game losing streak after winning its first four conference games under first-year head coach Rick Comegy.
Oliver's 41-yard touchdown pass to Christopher Johnson and Eric Perri's 26-yard field goal in the second quarter gave Jackson State a 10-7 lead at the half.
Smith, a true freshman, scored on runs of 2 and 25 yards in the third quarter as Jackson State dealt Prairie View its sixth straight lost.
Oliver and Johnson connected on a 67-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.
Prairie View, (2-7, 1-7) managed only 65 yards of total offense, while Jackson State accumulated 340 yards.
