TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -- Barry Church's 31-yard interception return gave Toledo a 21-0 first-half lead and the Rockets held on for a 31-21 victory over Bowling Green on Tuesday.
Jalen Parmele's 7-yard run put the Rockets (5-7, 3-5 Mid-American) ahead 7-0 with 2:57 left in the first quarter. Aaron Opelt scored from the 1-yard line with 8:08 left in the half to give Toledo a two-touchdown lead. Church's interception of Tyler Sheehan's pass gave Toledo its biggest lead. Bowling Green's Anthony Turner hit Corey Partidge with a 6-yard pass to pull within two touchdowns at the half.
In the second half, Opelt scored on another run while Ken Brantley caught two Turner passes for touchdowns for Bowling Green (4-8, 3-5).
Parmele gained 125 yards in 20 carries for Toledo. Turner had 21 completions in 35 attempts for 213 yards and three touchdowns for the Falcons.
