CLEVELAND (AP) -- Reggie Corner's 74-yard interception return and Chris Jacquemain's 19-yard touchdown pass to Jabari Arthur highlighted Akron's strong first-half and the Zips held on for a 22-14 victory Saturday over Army in the opener for both teams at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
After Akron's Igor Iveljic kicked a 23-yard field goal, Corner picked off David Pevoto's pass with 3:50 left in the first quarter. Jacquemain's pass gave Akron a 9-0 lead after the kick failed. Army pulled to 9-7 on a 3-yard TD run by Wesley McMahand.
Iveljic kicked a 28-yard field goal in the fourth quarter and the Black Knights closed the scoring when Peter Anderson returned a blocked punt.
Jacquemain completed 14 of 24 passes for 125 yards while Arthur caught 11 of his passes.
Pevoto was 23 of 43 for 184 yards but was intercepted twice. McMahand rushed 21 times for 84 yards.
