Iona 17, Wagner 14

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) -- Chris Lofrese kicked a 43-yard field in overtime to give Iona a 17-14 victory over Wagner on Saturday.

The Gaels are 2-0 for the first time since 1978.

Following Lofrese's kick, Piotr Czech of the Seahawks (1-1) missed a 43-yard attempt to tie the score.

Nick Rossetti connected on 22 of 33 passes for 212 yards for Iona and opened the game's scoring with a 2-yard pass to Michael Day in the first quarter.

Czech followed with a pair of second-quarter field goals of 19 and 49 yards to cut the deficit to 7-6.

The Seahawks went ahead 14-7 on Rocky Davis' 22-yard run at 9:42 of the fourth and Matt Abbey's 2-point conversion pass to Jason Butler.

Dave Samuels tied the score at 14-14 with about seven minutes left on a 1-yard run.
