MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) -- Ontario Sneed rushed for a career high three touchdowns and gained 168 yards to lead Central Michigan to a 52-31 win over Toledo Saturday night.

The Chippewas and Rockets traded the lead four times and were tied on two different occasions in the Mid-American Conference opener for both teams.

But Central Michigan (1-1, 1-0 MAC West) broke a 31-31 third quarter tie when Sneed capped a 76-yard drive with a 5-yard run.

Chippewa quarterback Dan LeFevour was 22-of-32 for 244 yards and two TDs. He also rushed for two scores as Central Michigan amassed 463 yards of offense against the Rockets (0-2, 0-1). Freshman Antonio Brown caught nine passes for 105 yards and one touchdown. He had 198 all-purpose yards.

Toledo's Aaron Opelt threw for a career high 334 yards on 25-of-41 passing. He had two TD passes and one rushing score. The Rockets totaled 482 yards of offense.

Stephen Williams caught six passes for 157 yards and one touchdown for Toledo.

The win was Butch Jones' first as Central Michigan coach. Jones took over after Brian Kelly departed for Cincinnati following the Chippewas MAC Championship last season.

It also was Central Michigan's third straight win against Toledo, which hasn't happened since 1992-94.
