AMHERST, N.Y. (AP) -- Blake Szymanski passed for three touchdowns and ran for another to help Baylor beat Buffalo 34-21 on Saturday night.

Szymanski was 21-of-45 for 172 passing yards, shaking off a sluggish first half in which he completed just 8 of 25. He also added 91 yards rushing, including a career-long 39-yard touchdown scamper in the fourth quarter for the Bears (3-1), who have won three straight.

Drew Willy finished 29-of-46 for 276 yards passing for Buffalo (1-3, 1-0 Mid-American Conference). He was also was intercepted three times and sacked three times.

James Starks scored all three touchdowns for the Bulls, who have lost two straight.

With Baylor up 10-7, Szymanski engineered an 11-play, 85-yard drive to open the second half, capping the march with a 9-yard touchdown to Krys Buerck.

The Bears made it 24-7 with 2:30 left in the third when Szymanski hit Brandon Whitaker from 2 yards out.

Shea Brewster connected on a 39-yard field goal 2 minutes later.

Szymanski, who has 14 touchdown passes in the last three games, capped the Bears' scoring with his 39-yard run around left end with 3:09 left in the game.
