MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) -- Karey Murray's two-yard touchdown run with 20 seconds remaining lifted Robert Morris to 9-8 win over Morehead State on Saturday afternoon.
Murray's run capped a five-play 64-yard drive, after Robert Morris forced the Eagles to punt late in the contest, and started the game winning drive with 1:31 left on its own 36 and with no time outs. The key play in the drive was a 45-yard pass from Colonials quarterback Erik Cwalinski to wide receiver Alvin Hill. That play moved the ball to the Morehead State 2-yard-line.
Robert Morris scored on the next play for the game winner.
Sophomore cornerback Josh Harris picked off a Cwalinski pass in the second quarter and returned it 97 yards to put Morehead State (2-1) ahead 6-0. The return was the second longest in Morehead State history. Later in the quarter, the Eagles recorded a safety and led 8-0.
Robert Morris (3-1) got on the board on a Michael Walser 20-yard field goal with 5:45 remaining in the third quarter to get the Colonials to within 8-3. Robert Morris finished with 243 in total offense (274 passing, minus-31 rushing) while Morehead State had 210 (137 rushing, 73 passing).
In three games, Morehead State has allowed minus-10 yards.
