SAN LUIS OBISPO (AP) -- Cal Poly option quarterback Jonathan Dally rushed for four touchdowns as the Mustangs handed Northern Colorado its 13th straight loss Saturday with a 56-21 victory at Alex G. Spanos Stadium.
The Mustangs (3-2) played before 9,684 fans, the second-largest crowd in Alex G. Spanos Stadium history. Most of those fans, however, left by halftime after the Mustangs jumped to a 28-7 lead.
Wingback Jono Grayson (127 yards) and fullback Jon Hall (89 yards) led the Mustangs' rushing attack but were kept out of the end zone. Hall's replacement, Kevin Spach, added a three-yard touchdown for the final score.
Dally, who was 6 of 8 for 196 yards and two touchdowns, rushed for 82 yards and touchdown runs of 1, 2, 7 and 14 yards. The four touchdown scampers were one shy of a school record.
Ramses Barden caught his eighth touchdown pass of the season, hauling in a 20-yarder that gave Cal Poly a 14-0 lead with 3:52 left in the first quarter.
Slotback Ernie Cooper made the most of his two touches, scoring on an 11-yard run and a 10-yard reception for the Mustangs.
Northern Colorado (0-5) was led David Woods' 130 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries.
