BOONE, N.C. (AP) -- Kevin Richardson scored four second-quarter touchdowns, and Appalachian State ran its home winning streak to 30 games with a 45-7 victory over Gardner-Webb Saturday.

The home streak is the longest in the Football Championship Subdivision, formerly known as Division I-AA. The victory over Gardner-Webb was the fifth in as many games for the Mountaineers (5-1).

Richardson, who rushed for 80 yards, scored four touchdowns in a game for the fourth time in his college career. It's also his 18th multi-touchdown game.

Appalachian State took the opening kickoff and scored on the first play from scrimmage on Trey Elder's 67-yard pass to Hans Batichon. But Gardner-Webb's Cody MacArthur recovered a fumbled punt by CoCo Hillary at the Appalachian State 35 and the Bulldogs (2-3) tied the score in five plays on Stan Doolittle's 15-yard touchdown pass to Duvaughn Flagler with 7:36 left in the first quarter.

From there, Richardson went on his scoring spree with two runs of 3 yards sandwiched around touchdown runs of 5 and 6 yards. Appalachian State scored on six straight possessions spanning the second, third and fourth quarters.

Hillary threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Josh Johnson midway through the third period and Julian Rauch kicked a career-long 49-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.
