THIBODAUX, La. (AP) -- Kareem Moore and Ladarius Webb each returned two interceptions for touchdowns in the first half to tie an NCAA single-game record and lead Nicholls State to a 58-0 victory over Northwestern State on Saturday.

The Colonels' four touchdowns on interception returns tied a record set by Houston in 1987 against Texas and tied in 2003 by Northwestern State against Southeastern Louisiana.

Moore and Webb also had 114 yards apiece on their returns.

Northwestern was shut out for the first time since 2001, a 24-0 defeat at Oklahoma State.

Moore had the game's first two touchdowns on interception returns of 49 and 65 yards.

Alex Romero had a 44-yard field goal and Joseph Tobias ran 3 yards for a touchdown to put the Colonels (4-1, 1-0 in the Southland Football League) up 23-0 after one quarter over the Demons (2-1, 1-1).

Webb's returns of 42 and 72 yards opened and closed second-quarter scoring; Zach Chauvin ran 30 yards for another touchdown and a 44-0 halftime lead.

Third-quarter runs of 19 yards by Zack Morgan and 1 yard by Chris Broussard, who led all rushers with 70 yards on five carries, ended the day's scoring. Morgan led receivers with one catch for 30 yards.

The Demons emerged from the game with their top three quarterbacks hurting.

Starter Germayne Edmond hurt his left wrist on Northwestern's second offensive series after throwing an interception that Moore brought back for his first score.

Drew Branch came in and ended up limping through most of the game after injuring a knee while scrambling late in the first quarter.

Freshman Adam Fayard saw his first college action after Branch went out. His first pass ended up being Webb's second interception for a score.

Fayard then hurt his shoulder, and Branch returned. limping, to finish the game.

Branch wound up 4-for-12 with three interceptions and 21 yards for Northwestern State. Byron Lawrence led the Demons with 60 yards rushing on 15 carries.
