BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Joseph Webb caught 6 passes for 106 yards and scored the go-ahead touchdown as UAB defeated Tulane 26-21 Saturday night.
UAB trailed 14-13 at halftime, but the Blazers opened the second half with an 82-yard, five-play drive that ended with a 17-yard scoring pass from Sam Hunt to Webb. A 59-yard pass play from Hunt to Frantrell Forrest set up the score.
Webb's touchdown put UAB in front 20-14 and the Blazers held off a late Tulane threat.
UAB (2-4, 1-1 C-USA) broke a seven-game conference losing streak. Tulane (1-5, 0-2) lost its eighth straight conference game.
Hunt completed 17-of-32 passes for 262 yards and 1 touchdown for UAB. Matt Forte ran for 212 yards on 32 carries to lead Tulane.
Jeremy Williams caught 6 passes for 133 yards and 1 touchdown for the Green Wave.
Tulane finished with a 504-372 edge in total offense.
Forte scored on a 8-yard run to give Tulane a 7-0 lead with 11;36 left in the second quarter.
The lead did not last long as Forrest returned the kickoff 92 yards for UAB's first scoring kickoff return since 1994.
A 31-yard pass from Anothony Scelfo to Brian King gave Tulane a 14-7 lead.
UAB responded with an 83-yard scoring drive. The Blazers drove to the Tulane 7-yard line and Dexter Barnett took a handoff and appeared to be headed for a score. But he was hit at the one-yard-line and fumbled into the end zone. UAB's Terence Edge fell on the loose ball for a touchdown. Swayze Waters missed the extra point try, leaving Tulane ahead 14-13 at halftime.
Webb's scoring catch put UAB in front, and Waters kicked field goals of 47- and 21 yards to give UAB a 26-14 lead heading into the final four minutes.
Tulane scored on 6-yard pass from Scelfo to Williams with 2:06 left.
The Green Wave drove to the UAB 46 in the closing seconds, but a long fourth down pass fell incomplete inside the 10-yard line and UAB ran out the clock.
