EASTON, Pa. (AP) -- John Skelton threw two touchdown passes and ran for a score and freshman Xavier Martin rushed for two more touchdowns as Fordham beat Lafayette 34-23 on Saturday to remain undefeated in the Patriot League.
Trailing 6-0 after one period, Fordham broke the game open with a 21-point second quarter. Skelton pushed in from a yard out and Martin followed with scoring runs of 1 and 5 yards as the Rams (6-2, 4-0 Patriot League) carried a 21-6 lead into halftime.
Lafayette (4-3, 1-1) got back into contention in the third quarter when Adam Gill caught a 24-yard scoring pass from Michael DiPaola and freshman Davis Rodriguez kicked a 36-yard field goal to pull the Leopards within 21-16.
Fordham moved ahead to stay later in the quarter as Sylvester Clarke grabbed a 37-yard scoring pass and David Moore caught a 51-yard TD pass. Skelton finished 19-for-26 for 323 yards.
Lafayette closed to the final 11-point margin in the final minute when Kevin Logan caught an 11-yard scoring pass from Rob Curley.
