BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) -- Tyler Sheehan threw for two touchdowns and 268 yards to help Bowling Green beat Akron 44-20 on Friday night.
The Falcons (5-4, 3-2 Mid-American Conference) jumped to a 7-3 lead in the first quarter on Chris Wright's 33-yard touchdown reception. Bowling Green stretched its lead by scoring 27 unanswered points in the second and third quarters.
During that stretch, Sheehan threw TD strikes of 23 and 15 yards, and P.J. Mahone returned an interception 51 yards for Bowling Green.
Akron (3-6, 1-3) scored on its first two drives, but didn't score again until 14:51 left in the game, when Carlton Jackson threw a 42-yard touchdown pass to Jabari Arthur. Jackson completed 14-of-31 passes for 192 yards with one interception. He also ran for 133 yards on 24 carries.
Sisina Vrvilo made 3-of-4 field goals for Bowling Green, and Anthony Turner ran for 104 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.
Sheehan completed 26-of-36 passes with two interceptions.
