LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) -- Sidney Bryant threw three touchdowns and Dee Brown had 177 receiving yards to power Charleston Southern over VMI 37-28 Saturday.
Bryant and Brown connected on an 18-yard TD pass at 12:32 in the decisive fourth quarter for the Bucs (4-5, 1-2 Big South). Charleston Southern's 16 fourth-quarter points included a 53-yard fumble recovery and TD run by Okeba Rollinson and a Nick Ellis field goal.
The Keydets (2-7, 0-3) led 21-7 midway through the third quarter on an 87-yard touchdown strike from Kyle Hughes to Tim Maypray -- the longest pass play in conference history. Maypray finished with 209 yards on five receptions.
Bryant connected with Brown on a 64-yard reception to draw Charleston Southern within one touchdown, then Bryant hit Markus Murray with 61-yard storing strike to tie the game at the 6:14 mark of the third quarter.
With one second left in the quarter, Joey Robinson scored on a 10-yard run to put VMI up 28-21.
Eli Byrd, who has been splitting time with Bryant because of a sore shoulder, had 86 yards and one touchdown on 8-of-11 passing.
Hughes finished with 261 yards on 11-of-19 passing.
