DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- The Dayton Flyers extended their winning streak to six Saturday in a 34-27 victory over Drake.
Senior quarterback Kevin Hoyng passed for 360 yards to help keep Dayton atop the Pioneer Football League.
Dayton (10-1, 6-1 Pioneer Football League) came into the game tied for first place in the league with Morehead State and San Diego, which also had 5-1 records going into the weekend.
San Diego beat Morehead State on Saturday 27-14.
Hoyng passes led two first-quarter touchdowns, sending Dayton to a quick 14-0 lead.
Drake (6-5, 3-4) quickly came back in the second quarter, scoring twice -- once with a Daniel Marx touchdown on a pass from Cole Ingle and the second on a short rush by Willie Cashmore.
Junior tailback Ben Shappie, who made the first score of the game, ran in again to keep Dayton ahead at the half.
Marx scored again in the third quarter on a pass from Derek Retherford to keep Drake's hopes alive, but the Bulldogs couldn't keep up with Dayton's touchdown and a field goal in the final quarter.
